Logan Center development a missed opportunity for the University to reach out to surrounding neighborhoods.
Standing like an obelisk just south of the Midway, the Logan Arts Center is receiving finishing touches before its opening in the spring. Although administrators say that the building will be a—not the—center for arts on campus, the resources it provides are bound to make it dwarf any other creative space at the U of C.
Logan was 93 years old.
It just keeps going on. Forever.
“If you take the vibrant energy of the arts and you add the intellectual vigor of a core curriculum… and you whip it up, you will have the Logan Arts Center,” said actress Marilu Henner (X ‘74) at the Center’s groundbreaking ceremony.
The UChicago Arts Pass provides discounts, memberships, and special offers at a total of 27 cultural organizations in Chicago.
Slated for completion in March 2010, the building features three performance spaces and a “tower of the arts.”
