Facilities Services set to relocate

McShane Construction Company of Rosemont, Illinois announced this month that it will manage the construction of Facilities Services’ (FS) new, 86,000 square foot facility at 5225 South Cottage Grove Avenue, set to be move-in-ready by next January.

While little was known previously about the project, new details about the building have emerged now that the University has made the selection. Projected to meet LEED-Silver certification, the second of four LEED certification levels, the building will also have its own geothermal heating and cooling system.

“Utilizing our in-depth knowledge and expertise, we are confident that McShane will deliver a completed facility that meets the goals of the University,” Jeffrey Raday, president of McShane Construction, said in a press release.

According to a construction announcement from the University, the building will house various FS personnel, including residential and landscaping staff. The adjacent parking lot will also hold 68 of its fleet vehicles.
