Crime Report: January 28-February 4

This is a series the Maroon publishes summarizing instances of campus crime. Each week details a few notable crimes, in addition to keeping a running count from January 1. The focus is on crimes within the UCPD patrol area, which runs from East 37th to 65th Streets and South Cottage Grove to Lake Shore Drive.

Here are this week’s notables:

  • January 28, 5815 South Maryland Avenue (Mitchell Hospital), 10 a.m.—A patient complained of rough treatment while being examined by a staff member at the hospital. The case is now closed.
  • February 1, 901 East 58th Street (Mitchell E.R.), 3:25 a.m.—A patient in the E.R. was using his or her iPhone to videotape staff members and other patients in the treatment area and refused to stop when told to do so by staff members. Patient ceased videotaping and deleted the data after UCPD responded.
  • February 4, 4900 South Lake Park Avenue, 1:01 a.m.—A motorist was arrested by a UCPD officer for possession of a controlled substance subsequent to a stop for a traffic violation.
