Two garner UAA honor
The UAA named two Maroons as Athletes of the Week on Tuesday. Fourth-year 125-pound wrestler Ai Nguyen and third-year women’s basketball forward Susie Gutowski earned recognition.
Nguyen earned his first Athlete of the Week commendation for a critical win against NYU at the UAA Championship last Saturday. He pinned Violet Brian Benson in 4:33 to capture the conference title at 125 pounds and a share of the league’s Most Outstanding Wrestler award.
Gutowski shot 62.5 percent from the floor for 36 points in two losses over the weekend. She added 13 rebounds, giving her a team-leading total of 138 on the year. She was named Athlete of the Week for the second time this season and for her career.
