UCPD bike cop hit by car near quads

A University of Chicago Police Department (UCPD) bicycle patrolman was hit by a car on South 57th Street outside the main quad gates on Tuesday morning at about 7:30. The driver did not stop at the stop sign and was given a citation. The policeman, Jack Laughran, suffered from broken ribs and was hospitalized at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to Rudy Nimocks, director of UCPD.

“We expect his full recovery and return to duty,” Nimocks said.
