Crime Report: May 12, 2006

May 9, 12:15 a.m.—A strong-arm robbery occurred at the 1400 block of East 53rd Street. A 68-year-old man was approached by a man whom he described as black, between 30 and 35 years of age, at 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds. The offender ordered the victim to “give up the money.” The victim gave up $30 in cash. The offender then fled the scene on foot. The victim reported that the offender frequents the area between East 53rd Street and Harper Avenue.

May 10, 11:00 p.m.—A strong-arm robbery occurred at the 5700 block of South Lake Park Avenue. A lone 18-year-old man was approached by two black men, both between 20 and 22 years of age, at 5-foot-7 and 270 pounds. The victim was asked the time and was then seized by one offender while the other went through the victim’s pockets. Finding no money, the offenders took the victim’s ID card and returned his wallet. The offenders fled the scene on foot.
