An armed robbery took place at 6 p.m. on January 24 at the Flower Bucket Flower Shop on 1375 East 53rd Street. A man walked into the shop and set a bag on the counter. He then looked around the shop, staring at merchandise and at other customers. After the customers left, the offender approached the salesmen at the counter and displayed a handgun, announcing that this was a holdup. He demanded money and the salesmen complied. They were then ordered to the rear of the store, where they remained as the offender fled on foot. The offender is described as a black male, 5'10", 150 lbs., and 40-45 years old. He was wearing a blue wool overcoat with a dark ski mask and dark pants.
A strong-arm robbery occurred at 5550 South University Avenue, the Henry Crown Field House, on January 25 at 4 p.m. A male staff member confronted an individual in front of his locker, which had been forced open. The offender was going through the victim's wallet, and struck the victim about the face and head, pushing him to the floor. The offender then fled the locker room. He was described as a black male, 45-50 years old, 6'2", and 200 lbs., with a ruddy complexion. He was wearing a dark jacket, gray pants, and a white baseball cap.
Numerous items were taken from a residence on the 5100 block of South University Avenue between January 12 and January 25. The mode of entry has not yet been ascertained.
