It's a holiday, it's a convocation. Noit's Family Weekend! Beginning Friday, October 22, parents, siblings and extended family are invited by the University to tour campus and observe with their own eyes why they pay $40,000 a year for their child to attend the University.
Parents may register on Friday and Saturday at Ida Noyes Hall to pick up their tickets for tours, model classes, and humanities open-house sessions.
Friday features a tour of the Oriental Institute and the Smart Museum, the Robie House, the Biological Sciences Learning Center (BSLC), and Rockefeller Chapel. General campus tours will leave from Ida Noyes at 1 and 3 p.m. Parents will also have the opportunity to hear the University's prestigious Motet Choir in an open rehearsal at the Fulton Recital Hall on the fourth floor of Goodspeed from noon to 1:20 p.m. The annual President's Tea will be held at President Randel's house during the evening.
On Saturday, parents will attend model classes, tour the Ratner Athletics Center and take a neighborhood trolley tour through Hyde Park, Kenwood and Woodlawn.
The tours continue Sunday, beginning with a brunch hosted by Dean of the College John Boyer in Ida Noyes Hall. For more information on times and events, visit http://familyweekend.uchicago.edu.
