Crime Report: April 19, 2005

A robbery occurred on April 16, at 4:07 p.m., near 600 East 56th Street. A man reported that two men approached him while he was walking down the street. They pushed him into a doorway, went through his pockets, and stole his cell phone and wallet before fleeing from the area.

A strong-arm robbery took place near 4710 South Lake Shore Drive. A woman walking on a bike path encountered two young men. They pushed her from behind, making her fall, and demanded her purse, which she refused to hand over. They then grabbed her purse and fled across the footbridge, heading west.

Another robbery occurred on April 17 at 8:45 p.m. at 4900 South Cornell Avenue. Four men confronted a man walking alone down the street. One of the offenders displayed a handgun while three others took positions as lookouts. The victim surrendered everything in his wallet. The offenders then ran southeastward on Hyde Park Boulevard.

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the left arm and the back at 10:42 p.m. on Friday, April 15, on 63rd Street near Ingleside Avenue. He was walking with three other male individuals when the shots were fired by an unknown man. The victim is hospitalized and is now in stable condition.
