Crime Report: May 17, 2005

An armed robbery occurred on May 15 at 6:25 a.m. near 5200 South Kenwood Avenue. A man was walking down the street when a car pulled up in front of him. The driver of the vehicle asked for directions to the nearest hospital. When the victim gave directions, the driver got out of the vehicle, displayed a handgun, and demanded money. He then re-entered the vehicle and drove away.

An attempted breaking and entering occurred at an apartment near 5300 South Drexel Avenue on May 14 between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The offender attempted to pry open the door but failed to gain entry, damaging the door and the lock in the process.

A burglary happened near 5300 South Drexel on May 14 between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. A female victim reported that her front door was damaged and the apartment was entered. The burglar stole a DVD player and a Sony digital camera.
