Crime Report: March 2, 2007

February 22, 1:05 a.m.—A 19-year-old woman was the victim of a strong-arm robbery on the 1400 block of East 57th Street. A car carrying a male passenger and a female driver pulled into a driveway as the woman was walking down the street, according to police reports. The male passenger, wearing a tan jogging suit, exited the car and asked the woman for directions, at which point he grabbed her book bag, got back into the car, and drove away. The vehicle was described as a four-door maroon car.

February 24, 10:30 p.m.—A 20-year-old man was robbed of his laptop and camera as part of an armed robbery at East 50th Street and South Drexel Avenue. The man was walking down the street when another man approached from behind and pushed him to the ground. The offender brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s briefcase, which contained a laptop and camera. The offender was last seen running westbound on East 50th Street toward Cottage Grove Avenue.

February 26, 9:10 p.m.—An armed robbery occurred on the 900 block of East 54th Street. A 52-year-old man was walking westbound on 54th Street when a car slowed down and passed him before circling the block and parking at East 54th Street and Ingleside Avenue. The man was walking toward the parked car when the male driver exited his car and held up the victim at gunpoint. “Give me everything out of your pockets,” the offender said. After seizing the victim’s wallet, the offender told the victim to keep walking. The offender got back into his car and drove eastbound on East 54th Street. The vehicle was described as a tan-colored four-door car.
