More on the pay gap myth

The Crimson is reporting that the base salary for female Harvard graduates is 83% of what the base salary for male graduates is. But turns out that is likely because men are entering finance and consulting in droves:

Among men who are entering the workforce next year, 58 percent are taking jobs in the finance and consulting industries. Among Harvard women in the workforce, only 43 percent are going into finance and consulting.
The pay gap could, in part, be because of simple differences in preferences between genders. And if it really came down to just that, it would seem pretty silly to make such a big deal about it.
