The Maroon's print edition is on hiatus until Spring quarter, but with the number of Chicago athletes competing on the national stage this week and next, a sports update is definitely in order.

—One week after the Chicago women took first and the men took second at the UAA Track and Field Championships, six Maroons will be traveling to Greencastle, IN to compete in the NCAA Championships. The women's qualifiers are thhird-year Liz Lawton in the 5000-meter run, second-year Paige Peltzer in the high jump, third-year Kristin Constantine in the weight throw, and fourth-years Claire Ray and Nicole Murphy, who both qualified in the weight throw and the shot put.

Third-year Jacob Solus qualified for the men's NCAA Championship in the triple jump.

Women's track and field's first-place finish at UAAs marks their second conference victory in three years. If RaceberryJam's current national performance list holds at this weekend's championship, the five women competing for Chicago would collect enough points to finish seventh nationally.

—Last week it was announced that four Maroons from women's swimming and diving got invites to the NCAA Championship meet, which will be held in Milwaukee between Wednesday and Saturday of exam week. Second-years Tara Levens and Laura Biery qualified in the 100-yard back stroke and the 400-yard individual medley, respectively, and third-year Ellie Elgamal made the cut in the 100-yard butterfly.

First-year diver Becky Schmidt, who was the UAA's Diver of the Year after winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions at the conference meet, also qualified to compete at nationals in each of those events.

—Women's basketball (19–7) qualified for the NCAA Tournament, but lost their first-round game against Simpson (23–5) last Friday night. After trailing the Storm for most of the game, the Maroons cut their deficit to only four points with under five minutes to play, but Simpson pulled back away over the final few minutes and won 66–53.

Second-year Bryanne Halfhill led the Maroon's offense with 15 points, and fourth-year Micaela White scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds to finish just shy of a double-double.

—Wrestler Troy Carlson's second-consecutive trip to the NCAA Championship ended after the fourth-year lost a 7–4 decision to Martin Porter from Delaware Valley. Carlson entered the 197-pound bracket as the four seed, and won his first match—a 6–5 decision against Michael Burke from Wabash—before losing his next two matches, including the final one against Porter.

Carlson concluded his year with a 33–6 record.
