Crime Report

On November 7 at 11:55 a.m., a University officer observed a man in the area of 58th and Cottage Grove walking around the cars in the area and acting suspiciously. The officer then saw him break into one of the cars and remove some valuables. The offender, Ricky Pittman, was brought into custody and charged with felony burglary.

Ten minutes later, at 12:05 p.m., the same officer observed a man acting suspiciously around the cars in the same area as the previous crime. The officer again saw the second man break into one of the cars and remove valuables. The officer approached the offender, who fled the scene. The investigating officer was joined by other officers who pursued and arrested the offender, 44-year-old David Bradford, who was charged with felony burglary.

Police have gathered further information on a robbery that took place on the 1400 block of East 55th street on November 3. At 1:10 a.m., a male offender followed a man off a bus and robbed him of two dollars. Nearby police officers apprehended the offender and took him into custody. The offender, who was noncompliant and did not carry identification has now been identified as 35-year-old Avery Lake and has been charged with robbery. He is also an unregistered sex offender and has been charged with failing to register with the Chicago Police Department as a local sex offender.
