An attempted robbery occurred on Thursday, February 14 in the parking lot at 821 East 60th Street. A woman was walking alone to her car at 5:45 p.m. As she was about to enter her car, she was approached from behind by a man wearing a black jacket, dark pants, and a black hat. The man was demanding that she give him her money when her cellular phone rang. She began to describe the situation and the offender as a black male age 16 to 20, 5 feet 6 inches tall, and weighing120-135 pounds. The offender fled on foot empty-handed.
An armed robbery occurred on the 800 block of Hyde Park Boulevard on Sunday, February 17. A male victim was taking a shortcut through an alley when he met with a man whom he recognized from the neighborhood. Following some small talk, the man, who was wearing a dark blue cap with the letter C on the front, a blue jacket, and blue jeans, produced a knife and demanded money and the video game that the victim was carrying. The victim gave the man the game and $40 cash. The offender, who was described as a black male, 18-21, between 5 feet 11 inches and 6 feet 2 inches tall, and weighing160-180 pounds, fled on foot.
On Wednesday, February 20, an aggravated assault occurred at 4900 South Drexel at 12:08 a.m. Police were summoned to the building regarding a report of disturbance and fired shots. The University and city police witnessed an exchange of accusations of armed domestic conflict between a resident of the building and an acquaintance of hers. Upon investigation, officers found and seized two nine-millimeter caliber guns equipped with 28-round clips. Adrian Starks, 23, of the 300 block of East 56th Street, was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a weapon, a felony charge. Tamala Binion, 24, of 4900 South Drexel Boulevard, was charged with aggravated assault.
