Crime Report

Two men were robbed at gunpoint in an alley on the 1200 block of East 53rd Street on Monday, September 29. The men were walking in the alley shortly after 6 p.m. when a vehicle containing three men pulled up next to them. A man with a handgun got out of the vehicle and demanded the victims' wallets, which they surrendered. He removed money from the wallets, threw the wallets on the ground and fled in the vehicle. The victims were able to note the license plate number as the car drove off. The FourthDistrict police was able to locate the car with three occupants. An investigation and a lineup identified two of the offenders as Oscar Strong, 24, of the 2700 block of East 92nd Street, and Kelly Wells, 28, of the 8100 block of South Coles Avenue.

A man was assaulted on the 5400 block of South Ridgewood Court on Saturday, October 4 at about midnight. He was thrown to the ground by his assailants but was able to fight them off and run from the area. Nothing was taken from him. He identified his first assailant as a black man, but was not able to describe him in more detail. He got a better look at his second attacker, describing him as a male Hispanic of about 6 feet, 200 pounds, with black hair, light complexion and thin sideburns. The second man was wearing a White Sox baseball cap and wire-rim glasses.
