Crime Report: April 14, 2006

April 8, 3:40 p.m.—An armed robbery occurred on the 5800 block of South Blackstone Avenue. A 40-year-old man was reportedly walking down the street when four men, including one armed with a knife, approached him from behind. The assailants knocked the victim to the ground, causing his cell phone to fall to the ground. One of the attackers seized his cell phone before fleeing the scene on foot. According to police reports, the three other suspects fled in a blue Cadillac located nearby.

U of C Police Department officers arrested a 30-year-old man with the victim’s cell phone in his possession soon afterwards. Charges were pending at the time of the report, and police continue to search for the three suspected accomplices.
