February 8, 1:45 a.m.—A male victim was walking down the 1300 block of East 57th Street when an offender drew a knife and confronted him. The offender demanded the victim’s valuables, took the victim’s property, and ordered the victim to continue walking eastbound on 57th Street. The offender was described as male, black, of large build, and wearing a football jersey, blue jeans, a hoodie, and a black coat. The victim believed there might have been a second offender in an alley nearby, but could not give a description.
February 8, 7:58 p.m.—A 24-year-old female victim was walking on the 1100 block of East Hyde Park Avenue when she was struck on the back of the head by a male offender and knocked to the ground. The offender then took her purse and fled the scene on foot. Police were notified and a description of the offender was obtained. A male fitting the description was located nearby, detained, and positively identified by the victim as the offender. Leonard White, a resident of the 4900 block of South Drexel Avenue was arrested and charged with robbery. He has a court date set for February 26.
February 9, 5:30 p.m.—A 14-year-old male victim was walking on the 5600 block of South Dorchester Avenue when he was confronted by two males, who began to go through the victim’s pockets. The victim was knocked to the ground and punched and kicked about the head and body. Police responded to a phone call by one of the victim’s friends and took two male juveniles into custody. The two 15-year-old males were both positively identified by the victim as the offenders. Due to the ages of the offenders, no further information is being released.
