A former University of Chicago student is accused of stabbing his roommate in their Hyde Park residence on Friday, March 13.
The incident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. at the 5400 block of South Hyde Park Boulevard. The Chicago Police Department has identified the suspect as Ross Jacobs, 27. The roommate suffered severe injuries and Jacobs fled the scene, according to an article in the Chicago Tribune.
The University issued a security alert at approximately 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 warning students of the the incident. The suspect is described as 6 foot 2 and 190 pounds with curly brown hair, a mustache, and a goatee. He may be armed and dangerous, and has been banned from campus, according to the University’s security alert.
Police urge anyone who sees Jacobs to avoid approaching him and immediately call 911.
