The first annual Margaret Bradley Memorial 10K Race will take place at 8 a.m this Sunday, May 22 in the area surrounding Jackson Park. Proceeds will go to the Margaret Bradley Scholarship Fund, which provides financial aid to medical students in need at the Pritzker School of Medicine.
Margaret Bradley, A.B. ’02, was an All-American runner and dedicated scholar during her time at the University of Chicago. She died tragically while running in the Grand Canyon on July 10, 2004. The race is to commemorate Bradley and her love of running, as well as contribute to the scholarship in her memory.
The women’s race will take place at 8 a.m., and the men’s race will start at 9 a.m. Race day registration will begin at 6:45 a.m., off Hayes Drive and between Lake Shore and Stony Island. Asics will provide free running shoes to the top three female finishers from Illinois, and cash prizes will be given to the top five women. Asics will also provide free merchandise for the top three finishers in each age group, men and women.
