How to donate to the Maroon

It’s never been easier to donate to The Maroon. Simply mail a check The Chicago Maroon address
(The Chicago Maroon, 1212 E 59th St, Chicago, IL 60637) or use the in-website donation function at the top of our home page or bottom of any article.)

Why donate?

The Maroon is in the process of a reset—not only due to the struggles the COVID-19 pandemic posed and continues to pose—but also because of a need to continue evolving in a rapidly changing media landscape. Because the Maroon is financially and editorially independent from the University, it relies on donations to keep operations afloat. Donations empower the Maroon to provide weekly, print issues—a free and essential service to UChicago and the surrounding communities.

Donations will go directly towards financing the Maroon’s operations. Outside of general needs, these donations will support long-term projects, including: an oral history project in which reporters will interview seasoned college professors;  the creation of a Maroon mobile app; and the expansion of the Maroon’s one-of-a-kind work-study program—a way for low income students to participate meaningfully in student journalism without having to sacrifice their needed student income.

As UChicago and the nation grapple with the ever-changing landscape of free speech and journalism, the Maroon will continue to seek out the truth and print it. This is not an easy task, nor a free one. Without your support, we cannot provide the journalism needed by our community. Donate today, and be part of the Maroon’s transition into the post-COVID digital age and help us continue being a place where free press and the truth thrive.
