Booth alumnus Satya Nadella (M.B.A. ’97) was named the next CEO of Microsoft Corporation, announced Tuesday morning.
Microsoft began their search for a new CEO to replace current CEO Steve Ballmer five months ago.
Nadella is a veteran of the company, having been with Microsoft since 1992, and he is the current Executive Vice President of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise Group. Before his 22-year career at Microsoft, Nadella worked at Sun Microsystems.
In a 2008 visit to the University, Microsoft founder Bill Gates said that “[Nadella] has perhaps one of the most challenging jobs at Microsoft, he’s merely in charge of competing with Google, runs our search business. He’s a graduate from the school, and we’re in very good hands with the great talent and education that he received.”
