On Episode 119, Pravan and Jake finally return to the studio with Eli, who’s new to the section. The three of them discuss the recent election results, locally and nationally, as well as protests on campus and the University’s new Institute for Climate and Sustainable Growth. We were on a hiatus to start the quarter due to illness and many of our reporters being off campus, but we’re glad to be back now!

Pravan Chakravarthy, Head Crossword Editor

Pravan Chakravarthy is a fourth-year in the College studying physics and linguistics. He is the head crossword editor, and formerly a deputy podcast editor, for The Maroon. Some notable contributions he has made in these roles include co-running the UChicago Crossword Puzzle Tournament (Autumn 2022-2024, planned Spring 2025), hosting the Maroon Weekly’s 100th episode (March 2023), and writing over 20 puzzles for The Maroon, including the puzzle for the Maroon-Daily Northwestern joint issue (June 2023). He started constructing crosswords in 2020, and has published work in the Los Angeles Times, the Universal Crossword, and the American Values Crossword Club. Off the grid (ha), he enjoys biking, making music, and reading.

Jake Zucker, Head Podcasts Editor

Jake Zucker is a third-year in the College from Brookline, Massachusetts. Jake is a devoted fan of Mitski, the Boston Celtics, and long walks. He spent the summer working as a counselor at his old sleepaway camp, where he taught campers to play tennis, volleyball, and baseball, and once cosplayed as William Jennings Bryan. When on campus, you might find him in the basement of the Logan Center recording a podcast. Jake is committed to the podcast section’s mission of telling the stories of the expansive University community through conversation. Email him if you believe you have a story to tell!
