Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate Robin Kelly, Raja Krishnamoorthi, and Juliana Stratton faced off in their first live debate of the Illinois 2026 primary cycle on January 26.
The debate, hosted by the Chicago Sun-Times, WBEZ, the University of Chicago Institute of Politics, and International House, featured questions about campaign finance, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, tax reform, and the Democratic Party’s response to President Donald Trump’s second term. Illinois’s primary election will take place on March 17 and also includes races for governor, the U.S. House of Representatives, the Illinois General Assembly, and many other state and local elected offices.
