Next year’s new unlimited residential meal plan will cost $4,560, the office of undergraduate student housing announced Monday. The plan, which costs $550 less than the current first year plan, was conceived in conjunction with the construction of the new south campus residence hall and dining facility, set to open next September. The plan will be mandatory for all incoming and current first-years in housing, but will be optional for current second- and third-years. Those students may continue a moderate or minimum meal plan—which have limited numbers of meals—at a 5 percent increase in this year’s rates. They will cost $3,633 and $2,523, respectively. As announced last week, room rates will remain the same next year. Singles will cost $7,383, and doubles and apartments will cost $5,997 and $7,998 per person respectively.
