Fifteen-foot jumpers weren’t the only way the Maroons were scoring points this quarter.
The conference named 71 of Chicago’s winter athletes to the All-Academic squad February 9, recognizing those who have completed at least three quarters of study and maintained at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA. The season’s largest teams, the men’s and women’s track-and-field squads, secured 20 and 16 spots, men’s and women’s swimming grabbed 10 and 8, wrestling had seven honorees, and the men’s and women’s basketball teams had five each.
The UAA honored 503 athletes in all, 462 in sports Chicago participates in. In those seven sports, the Maroons made up 15.4 percent of the list.
