Neighborhood Club turns 95

Last Saturday marked the 95th anniversary of the Hyde Park Neighborhood Club (HPNC). It also served as occasion to appoint a new executive director. The event, which took place in the Hyde Park Bank lobby, welcomed Gayle McCoy, a social worker with a distinguished record, to her new position with the service institution, as reported in the Hyde Park Herald.

McCoy spent the last six years developing the Genesis House of Chicago, an organization offering services to at-risk women and children. Prior to her job with the Genesis House, McCoy worked as a consultant for nonprofit organizations, focusing on fundraising and business development. As HPNC executive director, McCoy hopes to expand and add services relevant to the community.

Founded in 1909, the HPNC serves to enhance the quality of life for neighborhood residents from toddlers to seniors by providing recreational, extracurricular and special needs programming, according to its mission statement.
