On Sunday, April 4, an armed robbery occured at the Subway restaurant on 1642 East 55th Street. At 12:07 p.m. a man walked into the restaurant, produced a gun, and demanded that the clerk empty the register. The clerk complied, and the assailant fled out of restaurant and down East 55th Street. The assailant remains at large, and the police are still investigating.
At 11:45 p.m. on Friday, April 2, a mugging occurred at 5400 South Ridgewood Court. A man approached another man walking down the street and asked him for directions. Before the victim could finish, the assailant proceeded to harass the victim for his wallet. A struggle ensued until the assailant knocked the victim down and obtained the victim’s wallet. The assailant then fled to a nearby red vehicle and fled from the scene.
An armed robbery occurred at 4800 South Kimbark Avenue at 11 p.m. on Sunday, April 4. After parking his vehicle, a man walked to a nearby yard where an assailant grabbed him and demanded his wallet. The assailant then threatened the man with a can of mace. After stealing the wallet, the assailant fled towards West 48th Street. He remains at large.
An attempted burglary took place at 5300 South Kimbark Avenue around midnight on Sunday, April 4. An unknown individual broke a bathroom window in the building and attempted to gain entrance. He also cut security bars on the window and pried them open. Police were contacted, but nothing was stolen.
