Slate secures additional $25,000 for Uncommon Fund

SG Vice President for Administration Forrest Scofield has secured $25,000 from Dean of the College John Boyer’s office to increase the Uncommon Fund, the SG slate announced at tonight’s College Council meeting. The fund, which awards competitive grants to students who design innovative projects, will now total $70,000 this year.

According to Scofield, Dean Boyer agreed to contribute $0.50 for every dollar the Student Activities Fees (SAF) devoted to the fund. Administrators and Student Government had previously decided that the SAF would dedicate $50,000 to the fund.

“Dean Boyer agreed that creating an environment where innovation is rewarded is really important, especially at the college level. We’re really lucky to have him supporting us,” Scofield said in an email message.
