A strong-arm robbery occurred Wednesday, January 5 at 11:50 p.m. near 1300 East 52nd Street. After brushing snow off her car, a woman drove to 5100 South Kenwood Avenue. While driving she smelled a strange odor. It turned out to be the smell of two men with ski masks hiding in the backseat. They grabbed the steering wheel and demanded that the woman stop the car. They were planning to rob the bank where the woman worked and to force her to help them get in. When she started screaming, they told her to shut up, so she stopped the car, and jumped out of the vehicle. As she jumped out, the men managed to grab her purse. The woman reported that they then entered a black SUV behind her car. No further information is available on the status of the two men.
