Open Skate Night kicks off this year’s Kuviasungnerk Kangeiko—the University’s annual winter showcase for its masochistic, early-rising student population—this Wednesday evening, January 12. The ice-breaking event at the Midway Plaisance Ice Rink between University and Ellis Avenues runs from 9 to 11 p.m., a more reasonable time than most Kuvia events. The skating rink will be reserved for University students, and the event will feature music and disco lights. Skate rental is free with a UCID, and hot drinks, cookies, and a photogenic ice-sculpture will be available to attendees.
The evening is sponsored by the Council on University Programming and by Noctis Sero, a program run by the Student Care Center to promote healthy evening and weekend activities at the University.
Traditional Kuviasungnerk Kangeiko activities will begin on January 17 and continue through January 21, if you make it that far.
