You’re in luck: The celebration of poet Gwendolyn Brooks continues with a performance by Grammy-nominated wind quintet Imani Winds, the Don Michael Randel Ensemble-in-Residence. 4 p.m. Malcolm Gladwell, staff writer for The New Yorker, best-selling author of Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking and Outliers: The Story of Success, will give a talk titled "Talking to Strangers." Rockefeller Chapel, 5850 S. Woodlawn Ave. First come, first served.

6–8 p.m. With an interesting take on kink culture, Classic Kink analyzes veiled sexual innuendos in the traditional images of 19th-century Victorian era. The second part of the evening looks at the Chicago LGBTQ+ community through classical late 20th-century photographs. This event is sure to reconstruct your notions of traditional artistic expression. Smart Museum of Art, free but space is limited. Part II is the following week at the Leather Archives and Museum.

7:30 p.m. Windmill Chinese Drama Club collaborates with UT/TAPS to stage a murder mystery that is sure to make for a suspenseful night. The performance is in Mandarin, with synopsis provided in English. Theater West 115, Logan Center. There will be another 9:30 p.m. performance on May 7.

6 p.m. Can’t get enough Zumba? Miss Salsa at the Promontory? Fear not, International House is having a salsa night! The evening celebrates salsa as a means for cross-cultural connections through music. The event is hosted by I-House’s weekly “Salsa and Dialogue,” and will also feature performances by professional dancers, in addition to opportunities for everyone to hit the dance floor. 8 p.m. In the TAPS presents Exquisite Pressure: A Performance Pop-Up Series, performers rehearse for just 30 hours before staging a performance on a given text. This performance shows The Children’s Hour. Logan Center, $5.

5:30–8:30 p.m. The Japanese Student Association’s seventh Annual Spring Festival is here. Matsuri 2017 features food, performances, and games for all to enjoy. Hutchinson Commons, Reynolds Club.
