The University of Rochester recently became a member of the Nationwide Internship Consortium (NIC), a database of password-protected internship listings for students and alumni of member institutions, including the University of Chicago.
Rochester’s addition to the internship database will increase the amount and geographical diversity of internship offerings available to University students, according to Career Advising and Planning Services (CAPS) staff. There are currently over 10,000 internship and fellowship opportunities listed through NIC.
“Students now have access to an increased number of multiple regional listings in a variety of fields, which will increase students’ job search prospects” said Marthe Druska, assistant director of events and marketing for CAPS.
The other 16 member colleges include Claremont McKenna College, Pitzer College, Pomona College, Scripps College, Occidental College, Mills College, Harvey Mudd College, Santa Clara University, Reed College, Lewis and Clark College, Whitman College, The University of Puget Sound, Johns Hopkins University, and Dartmouth College.
One of the perks of having Rochester join the consortium is the diversity of geographical offerings now available for the many College students who seek internships in New York.
“The University of Rochester will also be bringing to the database specific New York–based regional opportunities to U of C students and therefore places them in a unique position to maintain connections to many employers in that area,” Druska said.
