Retired Air Force Colonel Jim Ogonowski, fresh from losing an open congressional race to Niki Tsongas

Retired Air Force Colonel Jim Ogonowski, fresh from losing an open congressional race to Niki Tsongas, who’s only governing experience came from being married to her husband, Paul, has decided to challenge John Kerry for his senate seat this fall. Sucker. This is not likely to end well for Mr. Ogonowski. The most popular Republican of the last two decades, Governor Bill Weld, made the Senator sweat in 1996, but still lost by eight points. Ogonowski is a virtual unknown outside of fairly moderate 5th district (where he lost by six points) and is challenging a true-blue incumbent in a true-blue state. All Kerry has to do is talk about George Bush during the debate (if it lasts that long) and he’ll win by 30 points.
