April 30, 1:10 a.m.—A 20-year-old man was walking west on the 1200 block of East 55th Street when two men approached him and demanded money. One of the offenders told the victim to empty his wallet and pockets while the other served as a lookout. The offenders then fled the area on foot.
One of the offenders was a Latino man, 5-foot-10, 150 pounds, between 25 and 30 years of age. He was wearing a white T-shirt and baggy jeans.
The other was a black man, 5-foot-11, 210 pounds, also between 25 and 30 years of age. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
April 26, 6 p.m.—In an attempted robbery, two male offenders attacked a 21-year-old man on the 6000 block of South University Avenue. The offenders knocked the victim to the ground, demanded his wallet, and then struck his head repeatedly with their fists.
An officer with the U of C Police Department (UCPD) witnessed the crime and intervened. The offenders fled on foot as the officer approached, but they were later apprehended by the UCPD.
Stanley Brown, 17, of the 6200 block of South Evans Avenue was arrested and charged with attempted robbery and aggravated battery. The other offender, a 15-year-old from the 6200 block of South Champlain Avenue, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery.
The male victim was taken to the U of C Hospitals.
