Crime Report

On Thursday, February 7, University Police were notified of a suspicious male in the lobby at 6022 South Drexel. An officer was dispatched to the location, and, upon arrival, he observed a male in the area pushing a shopping cart with a mattress in it. The subject was also carrying a large cardboard box and bedframe. As the officer began to conduct an investigation, the subject became evasive and attempted to flee the scene. The officer called for backup and, after a scuffle, the officers were able to subdue the suspect. They then discovered that the objects were stolen from one of the residences. Frederick Rush, a 27-year-old male, was charged with burglary. Police are still investigating whether or not he may be responsible for a crime at the same location that occurred on February 5.
