Crime Report

An armed robbery occurred on May 16 at 2:10 a.m. on 4900 South Drexel. Two people confronted a 23-year-old man and, pressing a hard object against his side, said, “Give me your money.” As soon as the man handed over $400 in cash, the offenders fled southbound on Ellis Avenue. One offender was described as black, 21 to 23 years old, 5 feet 11 inches, 180 pounds, with a light complexion, and wearing a black hat with dark clothing. There was no description of the second offender.

An attempted armed robbery occurred on May 17 at 12:20 a.m. on 5400 South Greenwood Avenue. A man, keeping his right hand under his shirt, confronted a 23-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman and demanded their money. When they said they had no money, the offender left. He was described as a black man, 25 to 30 years old, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, with medium complexion, cornrow braids, and wearing a white shirt with orange sleeves.

On May 17 at 12:40 a.m. on the 5000 block of South Hyde Park Boulevard, a woman and two men approached a man, 22. One of them displayed a handgun and ordered the victim into a nearby park area, then told him to remove all of his clothes. He complied, and the offenders took all his clothing and some personal items. The offenders fled westbound through the park towards 53rd Street. The victim notified police that they took money, jewelry, a book bag, a CD player, 10 CDs, a cell phone, and his clothing.
