CNN.com has a News Alert headline, but no story yet, reporting that the Senate has rejected the latest installment of the Federal Marriage Amendment, a constitutional amendment that would essentially ban same-sex marriage. I don’t think anyone is really surprised that it didn’t pass; the move was more political than anything else. Bush probably needs the weary conservative base back with the GOP for midterm elections.UPDATE: Here’s the story.
