Crime Report

On October 26 at 10:45 p.m., a robbery occurred on the 5400 block of South Dorchester Avenue. The male victim was walking eastbound on 54th Street when a man approached him with a handgun and demanded his money. The victim surrendered $80 in cash and then ran westbound as instructed. The offender is described as a 25 year-old black male with a dark complexion, five-foot-eight to five-foot-ten, weighing between 140 and 160 pounds.

Also on October 28, at 11:28 p.m. a man was seen tampering with a bike lock on a rack outside the Henry Crown Field House. A University police officer on his routine patrol recognized the offender, who has been arrested numerous times for crimes in the area. Stephen McCaskill, age 33, was arrested and charged. He is scheduled to appear in court on December 5, although police say that McCaskill often fails to appear on his court dates.
