The coroner’s office has ruled that the man found dead at 3 a.m. on February 5 is a homicide victim. The man, found at the rear parking lot of a 5300 South Ellis Avenue building, received multiple stab wounds to the neck and throat and was killed by blunt trauma. Police found the victim with no identification, and identified the individual, 38 years old and a resident of 6600 South Rhodes Avenue, by fingerprints.
A man was robbed at gunpoint at 6:25 p.m. on February 10 while exiting the CTA at 5300 Cottage Grove Avenue. A male offender approached him and asked for money while brandishing a gun. After the victim gave up his wallet—which contained $6—the offender fled on foot. He is described as black, 6 foot 2, 180 pounds, medium build, medium complexion, wearing a black coat with the Chicago Bears emblem, a black skullcap, and white gym shoes. The offender also had a scar on the right side of his face and a mustache.
