Some days, a team is firing on all cylinders. Wednesday was one of those days for men’s tennis.

In their next to last home match of the year, the Maroons (11–6) shut out Lake Forest (15–5) by a convincing tally of 9–0. None of Chicago’s singles players dropped a set, and the team’s doubles pairs all won their matchups handily.

In one of the day’s most dominant performances, fourth-year Bharath Sithian didn’t lose a single game as he beat third-year Ricky Galvez at the sixth spot in singles. First-year Mark Bonner almost equaled Sithian’s mark, beating second-year Joe Campagna and surrendering just one game in the process.

Playing at the top spot, first-year Will Zhang set back second-year Alex Presman 6–4, 6–1. Right behind Zhang, second-year Lado Bakhutashvili defeated first-year John Flaksman 6–1, 6–1.

Rounding out the individual ranks were second-year Garrett Brinker and Steve Saltarelli, who cruised to 6–0, 6–3 and 6–4, 6–1 victories, respectively.

For the first doubles pairing, Brinker and Saltarelli teamed up to blank Flaksman and Presman 8–0. Bonner and Sithian downed Campagna and first-year Chris Paterakos 8–2, and Bakhutashvili got together with first-year Paul Namkoong to take an 8–3 decision in their set.

The win is the third in a row for the Maroons and their first since playing Carleton in Hilton Head, SC over spring break. Their final regular season match is Monday against Olivet Nazarene (5–1). After the Tigers, Chicago will head to the UAA Championships a week from today. The South Siders placed third at the Association tournament last year.
