On January 3, at around 7 p.m., an armed robbery occurred near 1300 East 58th Street. An individual was sitting in his car when someone opened the driver-side door and demanded the car while brandishing a handgun. The offender then demanded the individual’s wallet, coat, and cell phone and left the car.
A robbery occurred on January 3, near 5300 South Greenwood at 7:10 p.m. An individual was walking south when two offenders approached from behind and grabbed him around the chest. They pushed him to the ground and demanded his wallet. The offenders left with $150 and the individual’s UCID card.
A strong-arm robbery occurred Wednesday, January 5 at 11:50 p.m. near 1300 East 52nd Street. After brushing snow off her car, a woman drove to 5100 South Kenwood Avenue. While driving she smelled a strange odor. It turned out to be the smell of two men with ski masks hiding in the backseat. They grabbed the steering wheel and demanded that the woman stop the car. They were planning to rob the bank where the woman worked and to force her to help them get in. When she started screaming, they told her to shut up, so she stopped the car, and jumped out of the vehicle. As she jumped out, the men managed to grab her purse. The woman reported that they then entered a black SUV behind her car. No further information is available on the status of the two men.
