5:15 p.m. In Rhythm & Rhetoric: Music and the Politics of Resistance, explore the intersection of music and politics by listening to works by Bob Marley, John Lennon, Kendrick Lamar and more. Pastries will be provided. IOP, free.

7:30 p.m. Enter the mystical forest as you become enchanted by the story of As You Like It, a Shakespearean play set in 1960s America that explores gender fluidity, psychedelia, and counterculture. 9:30 p.m. Explore the depths of all-consuming dedication with Darren Aronofksy’s Oscar-winning film Black Swan. Natalie Portman plays Nina, a dancer at the New York City Ballet who slowly loses her grip on her sanity as she struggles with the role of the Black Swan in Swan Lake. Doc Films, $5.

6:30–10 p.m. Celebrate Diwali, the Indian festival of lights, with a full program by SASA, including performances by UChicago Bhangra, Chicago Raas, the South Asian Music Ensemble, and more. There will also be catered dinner, sparklers, and henna-painting. Hutchinson Commons, $7 in advance, $10 at the door. 

7:30 p.m. Join Imani Winds and members of the Ensemble Dal Niente for an evening of chamber music by contemporary classical Hungarian composer György Ligeti. There will be a pre-concert discussion with composer David Clay Mettens at 6:30 p.m. Logan Center, $30 for faculty and staff, $10 for students.

3 p.m. Arts troupes from across the Midwest will gather in I-House for the Fourth International Korean Traditional Performing Arts Competition, which will encompass traditional Korean dance, vocals, and instrumental performances. International House, free.

7–9 p.m. Major Activities Board (MAB) hosts its fall show featuring critically acclaimed indie-rock singer-songwriter Mitski and up-and-coming R&B artist Serpentwithfeet. Mandel Hall, $10 with UCID, $15 for staff.
