A 25-year-old man was fatally shot in a car on the Midway Plaisance early Thursday morning.
At approximately 12:05 a.m. a car pulled up to the victim’s vehicle, which was stopped at the red light on South Woodlawn Avenue facing west, and opened fire, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) said. He was shot in his head, his shoulder, his arm, and his leg. The victim drove west and crashed into a tree. CPD said he was pronounced dead at the UChicago Medical Center, but the University said in a security alert that he was pronounced dead at the scene.
CPD is investigating the shooting. No one is in custody.
