The College Academic Advising Office announced a new exchange program with the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in an email to undergraduate students on Monday.
Starting in fall 2019, one qualified student will be selected to spend the term at Caltech as a visiting student while remaining enrolled in the College. The visiting student from Caltech will spend fall quarter in Chicago living in a residence hall and will have the option to take classes in the professional schools if they meet the course prerequisites.
Unlike the exchange student from UChicago, the Caltech student will have to take two classes to get credit towards their “primary option” at Caltech. UChicago’s email to students linked to the full course catalog at Caltech, though it also advised prospective exchange students to consult with their academic advisers before applying.
Applicants must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher to be considered for the program.
