Kerwin Charles, a professor at the Harris School of Public Policy, will become the dean of the Yale School of Management starting July 1, Yale’s president announced today.
Charles’s research focuses on labor and applied microeconomics. He has studied topics including generational wealth transfer, racial and gender discrimination in employment, and the effect of health crises on families and the labor market.
Charles has taught at the University of Chicago since 2005. He was the Harris School’s deputy dean from 2011 to 2016, and served as its interim dean in the 2016–17 academic year.
Charles also serves on the board of NORC at the University of Chicago, a research organization known for administering the General Social Survey (GSS).
