Possible Case of Swine Flu Reported at Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine

Swine flu may have hit campus.

CBS2 reported Wednesday at 12:14 that the Medical Center is investigating a few possible swine flu cases, although there were no details pertaining to the specifics of the cases.

CBS said that Dr. Stephen Weber, the hospital’s epidemiologist, wrote in an email to hospital staff, it “is investigating a small number of potential swine flu cases, like many other health facilities in Chicago and around the country. None of these people is severely ill. The cases are unconfirmed, and we are working with the Illinois and Chicago Departments of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to test samples for swine flu. We will provide an update as soon as we are able.”

The Maroon reported Tuesday that the University has ramped up preparations for the virus, which has been called “a pandemic.”
