Calderon takes office in Mexico and promptly raises the salary of troops and lowers his own salary. Two observations:1. Seems like someone is concerned about securing the favor of the military, could Calderon be concerned about a coup? The article makes no reference to the potential of a coup, but its hard not to consider.2. It is refreshing to see a nationally elected politician who doesn’t take a win at the polls by the narrowest of margins as a mandate by the people for the most extreme of his policies.
