An attempted armed robbery occurred at 8:22 p.m. on February 3 in the 5400 block of South Ingleside Avenue. A 63-year-old man was reportedly exiting his vehicle when an offender approached him from behind, pointed a handgun at him, and demanded $100. When the man said he did not have any money, the offender fled the scene. University Police officers responded to the man’s emergency call and observed a man fitting the offender’s description walking around in the vicinity. He was positively identified as the victim’s attacker and taken into custody. Jeremy Skipper, 18, who lives in the 6300 block of Drexel Avenue, was charged with attempted robbery.
Another attempted robbery occurred on February 5 at 6:25 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Harper Avenue. A man was walking alone on the street when confronted by four male juveniles, who surrounded him. One of the four juveniles punched the man in the face, demanding his wallet. The victim resisted and managed to flee the area, where he flagged down a University Police car. The suspects were apprehended, positively identified as the man’s attackers, and charged with attempted armed robbery. Those arrested include a 13-year-old and three 15-year-old men.
