Yesterday’s NYTimes Arts section had an article about Israel’s version of the reality show “Wife Swap.” I haven’t seen an episode of the original, but I understand that the wives from two very different families are switched for a certain period of time, and hilarity, emotion, and eventual acceptance ensue. The Israeli version has clearly one-uped us: They swap the wives of Israeli-Jewish and Israeli-Arab families. The potential for good cultural humor is immense, but I also see this as a great opportunity for communication, as weird as it sounds, if the show were to take off.
